Jimmy Oppenheimer

Founder/CEO

Jimmy Oppenheimer founded New City Property Management in 2010 and has grown NCPM from a small family investment office into an institutional management firm that currently manages over a thousand units.

After spending most of his career trading on various exchanges in Chicago, New York and London, Mr. Oppenheimer saw an opportunity to leverage his knowledge and expand his investment portfolio into multi-family real estate in the Chicagoland area. Being a Chicago native with extensive knowledge of Chicago’s diversified neighborhoods, the firm was able to quickly develop its portfolio of investments to span across the Chicagoland area. Calling on his expertise in risk management analysis, technology, and market risks, Mr. Oppenheimer saw many parallels between his financial career and that of investing in the real estate world. Utilizing technology, open mindedness, and determination has allowed New City to grow and scale its business platform into the successful operation it is today.

As Mr. Oppenheimer followed his passion and built his team at New City Property Management, he inspired longtime friend and trading colleague Don Brown to join the mission. The firm quickly acquired portfolios of two-flat and three-flat buildings throughout the Chicagoland area and proceeded to grow into larger courtyard, mixed used assets, and high-rise apartments.

Over the last few years, Mr. Oppenheimer has transformed New City’s investment portfolio from those small two and three-flats into institutional quality holdings, spanning the beautiful lakefront of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s historic Jackson Park neighborhood. NCPM focuses its employment on the local neighborhoods it services and strives to work closely with local community groups and advocates.

Mr. Oppenheimer is a graduate of George Washington University. Born in Chicago and raised in Florida, Mr. Oppenheimer returned to the city at 20 years old and has proudly remained a Chicagoan ever since.
